As a result of pregnancy, a change in weight, or simply the ageing process, some women find that their breasts loose the firmness and shape of youth. Sagging breasts can be corrected with a breast uplift. The results are firmer, more youthful breasts with enhanced female contours.
To ensure the best results, the consultants at BMI McIndoe Surgical Centre will make a careful assessment of your body to decide the best options with you.
During the procedure the consultant surgeon will make small incisions and remove excess skin and tissue as well as tightening the surrounding skin. The consultant surgeon will then re-shape the breast and reposition the nipple to a natural level. Scarring is minimal and will significantly fade with time. This operation can easily be combined with breast augmentation to achieve the best possible result.
The operation will be performed under a general anaesthetic and you will need to stay in hospital for 1-2 nights.
Patients are recommended to have a week off work to allow time to rest and recover comfortably at home. Any strenuous work or activity should be avoided for at least three weeks.
Directly after the operation, you will feel tender and you may experience a feeling of taught skin, or numbness. This is temporary, and can be eased with painkillers.
There are risks involved in undergoing any surgery, and these will be explained in full by your consultant during your initial consultation.
It is advisable to seek the advice of your GP or other independent medical practitioner before proceeding with surgery.
