• The Dental Implant team and their patient philosophy

The Team for Advanced Oral Implants (TAO) is a team of experts which has been established to deal with the growing number of dental patients requiring implants to help restore their quality of life.

Mr K M Lavery BDS FDSRCS FRCS

Mr Lavery trained in many of the major maxillofacial units in the country before becoming a consultant at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, and a post he has held in excess of 15 years.  During this time he has carried out a full range of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in this renowned centre of excellence and has taken a particular interest in the use of implants in post-traumatic cases.

Mr K J Sneddon MBBS FDSRCS FRCS

Mr Sneddon qualified in medicine and dentistry at Kings College Hospital, University of London in 1983 and 1991 respectively.  He has extensive experience in Maxillofacial Surgery and held senior positions in various prestigious Maxillofacial surgical centres before taking up his present consultant post.  Mr Sneddon has published his work extensively and has special interest in the use of titanium implants in facial and oral reconstruction.

Mr K E Postans BDS LDS RCS (Eng) MSc (Lon)

Mr Postans has been closely involved with the implant teams based at Kent and Canterbury Hospitals for over 15 years. He deals with all applications of prosthetic reconstruction on ITI® Straumann implants. and receives referrals both directly  from other practitioners and through Canterbury and McIndoe (East Grinstead) hospitals.

Mr L S Browne LCGI FBIDST

Mr Browne has been working with implants for more than 30 years and firmly believes in the team approach to implant dentistry.  He has been elected a member of the ITI® (International Team for Implantology), only the second technician worldwide to be invited to join.

The TAO philosophy encourages each discipline to communicate and interact to deliver the ultimate treatment for each patient.  The team comprising of an Oral Surgeon, Prosthodontist and Technician, combine expertise, which will together produce a predictable treatment outcome.

Our stated philosophy of excellence is a commitment by each member of the team to our patients. Together we provide a centre of excellence in which our general practice colleagues can have complete confidence.  Each referred patient remains under the overall care of the referring practitioner.

Our preferred system is ITI(International Team for Implantology), which is marketed worldwide by the Institute of Straumann of Switzerland.

With a wealth of knowledge and expertise spanning in excess of over 15 years,  our team have been responsible for many thousands of successful implant restorations.

Successful and predictable restoration using dental implants demands the combined skills of specialists from several  different disciplines within dentistry.  Our team, we believe, will live up to its chosen name offering the true path successful implant borne restorations for your patients.

All patients are seen by the team consisting of Oral surgeons, Prosthodontists and Technicians, thus ensuring a balanced and realistic appraisal of the patient’s needs and wished.  The Implant system of choice will be the ITI System.  The System uses a one-stage tranmucosal titanium implant design, requiring only one surgical procedure for placement, needing only six to twelve weeks to integrate (depending on the patients bone type).
