Frequently asked questions

I’m not covered by medical insurance but would like my child to have surgery with you.

For patients who are not covered by private medical insurance we offer a fixed price surgery package called ‘Option’. You will know exactly what is and what isn’t covered in the package which will give you peace of mind. All our packages include a 30 day guarantee. So if you need to spend longer in hospital than initially expected and its directly related to your treatment, you will not have to worry about additional bills

Should I let my child bring in toys with him/her?

We always encourage your child to bring a favourite toy with them. Sometimes they too can come home with a special bandage or plaster like the patient!

However, we do have a special toy cupboard full of books, games, puzzles and videos. Your child is welcome to have look through the ‘special cupboard’ on their pre-admission visit and select a toy.

Can I stay with my child?

Parents are always welcome to stay and only ever need to be separated when their child is in the operating theatre. If your child needs to stay in overnight, one parent is welcome to stay in the room with them. There may be an additional cost if a separate room is required.

My Child has never been to a hospital and I am very worried how they will react.

The first rule is not to worry, children are very astute and will pick up on any anxiety you may have. If you feel relaxed and confident they will feel reassured. We have found that the pre-admission visit to be very useful in reassuring both parents and children prior to surgery.
