Consultant Overview: Mr Lavery trained in dentistry and medicine at the University of Dundee and then trained in many major Maxillofacial Units prior to taking up his appointment as consultant at the sub regional Maxillofacial Unit at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. In addition to his NHS consultancy to the Queen Victoria Hospital and associated regional hospitals, Mr Lavery has served as the Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Committee in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to the Joint Committee for Higher Surgical Training and has been an elected member of the Council of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is Chairman of the Kent Dental Advisory Committee. He holds examinerships at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and the European Board in Maxillofacial Surgery. He is speciality tutor and load clinician to the Regional Plastic and Maxillofacial Unit and holds an honorary clinical tutorship to Guy's, Kings College and St Thomas' Hospitals, London. Mr Lavery together with consultant colleagues, runs the Team for Advanced Oral Implantology, which has been established to deal with the growing number of patients requiring dental implants to help restore their quality of life.
