A father of four who was unfortunate to have a firework blasted through his face in a horror Halloween accident has had his life transformed by a celebrity plastic surgeon, Mr Peter Arnstein.
Farmer Lesley Andrews was left unable to eat solid food, speak clearly or drink from a cup after a rocket he was lightening for his children tore through his cheek in October 2003. It obliterated part of Lesley’s jaw bone, almost blinded him and left him choking on his own blood.
After more than two years of agony, he was one of the first patients from Northern Ireland to receive treatment at the McIndoe Surgical Centre under the Northern Irish NHS Waiting List Initiative. Three weeks after reconstructive surgery his feeding tube was removed and he was able to eat properly again and get life back to normal.
