Vera was referred to the Ulster Hospital with hand problems. Her fingers had started to curl into the heart of her hand and simple things became awkward to do. She admits she pondered to have surgery in England. But had no regrets after receiving surgery for her Dupuytren’s Contracture. Vera said that when she arrived at the hospital she was made to feel like royalty. ‘It was like going on a week’s holiday and everybody was so kind. My life has been made so much easier now that my hand has been repaired.
